Four Mile volunteers are an integral part of our organization, and help to fulfill our mission in a variety of ways. From education and events, to grounds maintenance, volunteers are an integral part in preserving Four Mile’s unique story, and sharing it with visitors of all ages.
We provide training for volunteers in a variety of interest areas. You will need to submit an application and attend an orientation in order to volunteer at the park. If your application is selected for further consideration, you will be contacted for an interview/orientation. Those who are 18 and older must pass a background screening. Our volunteers provide excellent customer service, are flexible in accepting assignments, and enjoy working with others.

Assist with admissions, gift shop purchases, and helping visitors find their destinations.
Lend your skills to our sewing, quilting, blacksmith, or summer kitchen groups. Demonstrators provide a glimpse into 19th-century rural life as well as hands-on experiences for visitors during special events and educational programs.
Help maintain the grounds of our 12-acre site by lending a hand with weeding, gardening, mowing, clean-up, paddock maintenance, and other outdoor tasks.
Student volunteers are active in a variety of areas throughout the Park, including grounds maintenance, special events, visitor services, and educational programming.

Donate a total of over 400 hours a month on average.
Work in a variety of areas from the administrative office to the blacksmith forge, giving tours in the Four Mile House to gardening, education programs, and animal care.
