Out of the soil left behind in the wake of struggle comes new growth, healing and beautiful. Sacred Voices is a Denver non-profit dedicated to empowering BIPOC youth in their creative expression. Come join Sacred Voices this Spring as we put on four outdoor workshops on poetry and comedy at Four Mile Historic Park.
Students will learn different techniques to process complicated feelings through creative expression, facilitated by BIPOC creatives based in Denver. Four Mile Historic Park is home to Denver’s oldest standing structure, Four Mile House, built in 1859 during the Gold Rush era. While the Gold Rush era represented opportunity to many, it also ushered in an era of colonialism with disastrous effects for Colorado’s Indigenous populations. Sacred Voices and 4MHP are working together to showcase how spaces with a complicated history can be used for change and healing.
These 3-hour workshops take place on April 10th, April 24th, and May 8th. Workshop participants are eligible to be part of an upcoming showcase (TBD).
