Tradition. Connection. Reinvention. Possibility.

At Four Mile Historic Park during the 1870’s, completion of the first railroad between Denver and Cheyenne abruptly ended regular stagecoach service along the Cherry Creek route, ending the Booth’s successful stagecoach business. The family refocused their efforts toward farming and within a few years the first Success Ditch was built. The ditch supplied enough irrigation to plant an orchard, providing the farm a new beginning.

That decade also originated the first Christmas card in the United States. The card was a creative solution that solved the problem of keeping connection with extended family and friends. The first generation of cards typically featured original artistic works of animals and nature. With their invention, well wishes were able to be spread both far and wide.

Fresh into the new decade, it’s no secret we’ve been faced with historic challenges. My hope is that this installation illuminates our opportunity to creatively transform endings into new beginnings. And in the tradition of the holiday greeting, strengthen our kinships to make these new beginnings possible, together.

Ice Rink F.A.Q.s

What is the rink fee?
The rink fee is $5 per person.

Do you have ice skates available?
Yes! Skates are included in the rink fee and there is no additional charge. If you have your own skates, you are welcome to use those.  Please note: the toe picks on figure skates can damage synthetic ice, but we have hockey skates available!

What sizes of skates do you have?
We have a wide range of sizes for both children and adults.

What is your ice rink made of?
Our rink is made of a state-of-the-art synthetic ice. Synthetic ice is a self lubricating polymer that functions much in the same way as real ice, although there is slightly more friction. This makes our rink more accessible to all levels of skaters, from children to adults.

Do I need to reserve a time to skate?
No. Skating is first come, first serve.
